Win after win for Brazil Girls!

For more than twenty years, Brazil Girls have been bringing home victory after victory to North East Liverpool, and this year is no exception.

Brazil Girls was started by Eric Jones over 20 years ago. His daughter wanted to play for a football team, and, as most of team names were taken, he asked the girls what name would they like; the World Cup was on at the time, so they decided on the name ‘Brazil Girls’. Eric has taken a step back from the club but still helps out with the little ones. Diane Hancock now helps to run the club.

Based at Walton Hall Park, the teams range from Under 8s to Under 18s, with most coming from the L11 area. This year, the Under 16s have won the treble, the County FA league, the County Cup, the League Cup, and they won the FA Futsal Youth Cup North West Regionals in Manchester.

The Under 10s also won the FA Futsal Youth Cup North West Regionals in Manchester, and then went on to win the Nationals in Birmingham. They are the first ever futsal team from Liverpool and the North West to win this cup! The team also won the League Cup, and a number of tournaments all over the North West.

Rose Griffiths, whose daughter plays for the Under 16s team, said: ‘We think this is a great achievement for the girls and we are very proud of them… All the girls have great respect for Diane and Eric for all the hard work they do.’

Well done Brazil Girls! If you are interested in joining the team or would like more information, please contact dianehancock@live.co.uk or rosiemac1963@live.co.uk.
